Named Minority Director on the ACCA Board of Directors
Commissioner Moore-Zeigler serves as Minority Director on the 2026–2027 Board of Directors of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA), the statewide organization representing all 67 county commissions.
Recognized for completing Auburn University’s BSEI program
At a Montgomery County Commission meeting, Auburn University recognized Commissioner Moore-Zeigler for completing the Buddy Sharpless Education Institute (BSEI) certificate, the training program Alabama commissioners take to strengthen policymaking and service to residents. She completed the program in 2023.
Named a 2026–2027 MPS Attendance Ambassador
At the Attendance Awareness Month pep rally at Carver High School, Montgomery Public Schools named Commissioner Moore-Zeigler a 2026–2027 Attendance Ambassador, alongside Attorney Stewart Vance, to champion students showing up every day.
District 2 maintenance shop design approved
The Montgomery County Commission approved the design for a new District 2 maintenance shop in March 2026.
Elton N. Dean Sr. Park trail construction awarded
The Commission voted 5-0 to award the construction contract for the off-road trail and multi-use path at Elton N. Dean Sr. Park. The project began with the ALDOT funding agreements Commissioner Moore-Zeigler moved in 2024.
County and state commit $15 million to Jackson Hospital
Commissioner Moore-Zeigler voted for the county’s $7.5 million share, matched by the state, to keep Jackson Hospital serving Montgomery.
The school penny stays with our students
A proposal came before the County Commission to move 10% of the one-cent sales tax that funds Montgomery and Pike Road schools — about $4 million a year — to other county uses. Commissioner Moore-Zeigler voted to table it, and the Commission kept 100% of the penny with our schools. Housing panel at the AABCO Empowerment Conference
Commissioner Moore-Zeigler moderated the Housing Authority Funding & Programs panel at the AABCO Empowerment Conference in Birmingham, with the leaders of the Selma and Birmingham housing authorities. The focus: what counties can do now — land, infrastructure and faster approvals — to get affordable homes built.
District 2 ARPA funds go to local nonprofits and law enforcement
Commissioner Moore-Zeigler directed District 2’s share of the county’s ARPA funds to District 2 nonprofits and to local law enforcement (November–December 2024).
Moore-Zeigler elected vice chairman
Commissioner Moore-Zeigler’s colleagues elected her vice chairman of the Montgomery County Commission — the first African American woman to hold the post.
